Take Care of Your Center

At our recent April leaders’ meetings I gave a talk to the elders that was based on eight perspectives that were rooted in some of our Common Concerns.  The title of the talk is “Remembering the Deposit" (click here to download the audio file).  I’m asking that during the next year you would take each one of these perspectives and include it in your leadership agenda as a point of dialogue, prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit.  I want us to address these issues both as individuals and as a leadership team in each church

The first perspective is “Take Care of Your Center.”  My request is simple; include this in your leadership agenda this month (May) and call one another into the Scriptures that are highlighted in this .pdf file. Let me add a few questions that may help dialogue among your leadership team.

Take Care of Your Center

  • What does it mean to follow Jesus?

  • How can we better encourage each other to sustain patterns of devotion?

  • How should we study the Word of God apart from sermon preparation?

As a further post-conference action, the leadership team of Christ Community Church (St. Paul MN) will use Craig Blomberg’s “soundings” for each of the 13 chapters of the Pastoral Epistles (included in his four conference talks) as leadership interactive discussion points.  His macro approach to these letters was well done, I thought.

Blessings on you this summer. Let me know the insights and/or questions derived from these eight perspectives.

In Christ,

Ned
